John Coltrane may have spent his career searching for that one perfect note, but, thanks to the sweet sounds of Shelley Carroll and Titos Vodka martinis, Fort Worth yelpers at Scat Jazz Lounge found their evening pitch perfect!
And Harry O was down from the get go in his tux and shades to recreate a bygone era: "I liked the idea of just walking on the streets of downtown Ft.worth and then slipping thru an alleyway to reach an elevator that takes you to the basement where the Scat Jazz Lounge hides…." And Eric W concurs, noting that he "learned several things, but first and foremost is, if there is a theme, I'm going to find out what Harry O is wearing, as this guy knows how to dress the part."
And Reena D embraced the gestalt of the evening, cocktails in hand: "Tito's cocktails were flowing. The jazz band was great. The fun part at this event was the photo booth. That was so fun and it had everyone giggling." Hard not to giggle in any jazz band, cowboy hat, martini situation, Reena!
And the band was terrific: Shelley Carroll, who's toured with both the Duke Ellington Big Band and Sheryl Crow (presumably those were separate tours), tore up the stage from the word go. Sometimes taking the elevator down a floor means being transported a little. Thanks to the band, the photo booth, Tito's and the slinging bartenders at Scat Jazz Lounge, this truly was a night to remember!
Until next time, SYOY!
