Fiesta de Yelpo en La Fonda
¡Ay, ay, ay chico yelpo! En Este de Los Angeles, la fiesta de Yelpo was on and poppin’ with Elites getting into the spirit of pre-Cinco de Mayo at La Fonda on Wilshire! The BYOS (bring your own sombero) 2.0 bash was filled with mini piñatas, poncho-wearing Yelpers, plates of comida, rounds of margaritas, and even a Frida Kahlo-inspired lookin’ Elite! When LA throws a fiesta, es muy loca.

As Elites shuffled in for the celebration, Las Colibri ("The Humingbirds"), an all-female Mariachi group serenaded everyone with their strong vocals and even made Christina K admit: “For the first time, I can say I'm a fan of the music style. Two violinists and three variety-playing guitarists. I’d consider hiring them for a party.”
La Fonda served up bite-size samples of veggie flautas, grilled chicken, quesadillas, chimichangas, bottomless chips and salsa, and even salmon! “All of it was great and what surprised me was the salmon” confesses Jose A, “I’m not a huge fish person, but this dish was very mild and not fishy at all.” No fishy business at this party!

The only real way to celebrate the fifth of May was the margarita way, and La Fonda was all about mixin’ the sweetest cocktails to help Yelpers kick off the tequila-drinkin’ holiday! “The margarita selection at the bar was extensive, and the bartenders were doing WORK. Props to them for doing such an amazing job” praises Nicole S, who “loved the mango jalapeno margarita!” Elites were double fistin’ with flavors of Mango/Jalapeno, Strawberry, Rosa, and La Fonda's take on the classic Cadillac. For those who still wanted to get the buzz without all that extra sugar, the bar also provided Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
To help end the sizzlin’ hot Latin night, Mariachis Los Reyes came to belt out a few popular tunes with their own Mariachi-style twist. Might it be added that those fellas were mighty fine too? At least, Anita L agrees and admits that, “Boy, those guys in the mariachi band were hot, haha.” ¡Si, claro que si! And of course, our very own LA East Community Manager got a taste of their good looks as Juanita D reminds us “not to forget Katie B’s 'private' little lap dance that all got to enjoy!”

Thanks to La Fonda, Yelpers got to party their somberos off! And Unboxed Images caught all the raw footage here on the LA Flickr page so we can relive the fiesta every day!
Til next time, hasta luego mis Yelp amigos!
