It’s summer in Omaha, and the excitement of getting out in the city is upon us. We’re heading to the zoo, the parks, the beer festivals, and for many, the farmers markets. If you’re looking for fresh basil, or wanting to spruce up your garden decor – or simply enjoy live music while strolling through the park with your coffee and your dog – there’s a farmers market just for you in Omaha most days of the week.

Omaha Farmers Market – Aksarben
Sundays 9am–1pm, May 7–October 15
67th & Center streets
This farmers market has the two surrounding streets of Stinson Park lined with vendors offering salsas, popcorn, fresh breads, herbs and lemonade. There is yard art, wall art, and even improv poem writing. Besides the free samples, Jones Brothers Cupcakes offers a mean cup of joe and Beacon Hills serves brunch until 2pm. Also enjoy a fresh lemonade while spectating the Zumba class at Bradford Bowl. This location has a park on site for the kids.
“I love this farmers market and it has become a Sunday morning staple for us. They have tons of fresh vegetables and herbs (and some fruits), fresh local meats and cheeses, pastries and baked goods, flowers, crafts, honeys and jams. The prices are great and the vendors are friendly.” – Moira R.

The mission: Connecting agriculture, history and art. The Florence Mill Farmers market offers a variety of fresh, local produce, meat, eggs, and special weekly presenters. They always have fresh vegetables, produce, garden art, jewelry, massage, crafts, and many more ways to have fun.
“We have purchased numerous items from a variety of the vendors and they have always been good. You can also count on free massages from the Universal School of the Healing Arts (based in Florence), as well as live local music, and from time to time there have even been pony rides and petting zoos for the kids.” – Shelby B.

Looking for a midweek market to grab your produce? Located in the parking lot of The Charles Drew Health Center, this farmers market offers over a handful of produce vendors including Wenninghoff Farm, Fork N Farm, Sundermans Produce, Theilen Produce, and more.

Rockbrook Organic Farmers Market
Thursdays 4pm–7pm, June 1–August 3
108th St. and W. Center Rd
The Rockbrook Organic Farmers Markets is focused on local and responsibly grown produce, meat, eggs cheese and herbs. This Artisanal market also offers candy, pastries, flowers, homemade goods and more.

100 Pear St. (Bayliss Park), Council Bluffs, IA
Located in historic Bayliss Park in the heart of Council Bluffs, this farmers markets brings in vendors selling both farm raised and processed products, prepared food items, and plenty of handmade crafts. An evening market, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy a free, weekly concert series.

Village Pointe Farmers Market is West Omaha’s largest farmers market. The need to elevate community awareness of sustainable local food that is good for your health, and providing that wholesome food is the ideals of this market. They’re the only farmers market in Omaha to require GMO labeling. If you’re looking for the best local food, with transparent ingredients, this is the market for you.

Omaha’s historic Old Market district, this perhaps Omaha’s most well-known market. In its 24th season after a 30-year hiatus, this famous market showcases local vendors, artisans, and farmers alike. Spanning multiple city blocks, approximately 100 vendors come out each week.

Located at the Omaha Home for Boys, the Benson Farmers Market’s mission is to provide a venue where the community can access fresh, locally-grown foods as well as artisans’ goods and services. They also host monthly flea markets on select dates for those who want to bring gently used items and have their own sale.

20th and Franklin streets (Washington Park), Bellevue, NE
Calling all early birds to the Bellevue Farmers Market. This market boasts that it’s so much more than fresh local foods. This market is for the masses. It’s for family. It’s for community. Every Saturday they encourage shoppers to peruse their favorite vendors, try a new one, have breakfast or lunch by way of a food truck, and enjoy the park while listening to live music each week from 9am–11am.
