Outstanding views, expertly-prepared classic American fare, and a truly impressive selection of cocktails and wine. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Salem, it’s hard to beat FairWay. Located right off the Salem Golf Club, FairWay was an obvious choice to host the Oregon capital’s very first Yelp Elite Event! Lucky members of the squad were invited to experience firsthand the restaurant’s commitment to hospitality and attention to detail. And to work on their short game, because you can’t have a party with a golf course view and not get in some putting practice!
Upon arrival, the guests were immediately struck by FairWay’s charms. From the moment diners begin their approach to the Antebellum-style estate, FairWay is a destination that evokes the casual sophistication of the South. As guests checked in to the event, they were greeted with a welcome glass of wine, courtesy of Trinity Vineyards. The next stop was a tour through FairWay’s bar, a gorgeous space known for its dark woods, leather-bound books, and outstanding happy hour! Here, guests were treated to complimentary Negronis before making their way outside.
FairWay’s massive back patio is a guest favorite, and the Yelp Elites could easily see why. The golf course views paired perfectly with a glass of wine. The latter was again provided by Trinity Vineyards, which had set up a special bar to serve four outstanding varietals. From rosé to pinot noir, the Yelpers were able to easily find a wine to match their palate. Guests even had the chance to sink a putt for a free bottle of wine! And for those whose golf games came up short, Trinity Vineyards offered tastings at their boutique vineyard in the hills just south of Salem.
Throughout the evening, FairWay’s staff spoiled the guests with a seemingly endless array of passed hors d’oeuvres. Bursting with large lumps of crab and topped with a sauce gribiche, the crab cake was a clear Yelper favorite. Beef tartare, pork belly on brioche, and pulled pork sandwiches were all wildly flavorful and satisfied the biggest of carnivores. Meanwhile, vegetarians raved about fresh and seasonal selections, such as stuffed endives and tempura fiddlehead ferns. Regardless of their diet, the team at FairWay made sure that everybody was satisfied.
As the evening began to wind down, the Elites were invited to make their way through the second-floor event space and onto the restaurant’s sprawling balcony. As the guests sat by the cozy fire pits, FairWay’s team drew winners in a special raffle, with prizes ranging from romantic dinners at the restaurant to complimentary rounds of golf! But then the Yelpers were happy to discover that they were all, in fact, winners as each guest was given a collection of gift certificates not only to FairWay, but also to all of its sister restaurants in Portland! The sun set over the greens, and the evening came to a close. As guests made their way home, they were already planning their next trip to FairWay.
