What happens when an intimate group of LA East Elite yelpers crash into a perfectly choreographed sneak peek of a 15+ course menu from a not-yet-released fall dish selection from a venue that hides behind the name of The Whisper Lounge? Pure magic, that's what! The Whisper Lounge pulled out all the stops for the closing event of an Elite Tasting Series for September.
Chef Anthony Jacquet left no stone unturned in the kitchen, creating a gorgeous, gluttonous meal for Elite yelpers. The cocktail reception included a rich mushroom and truffle flatbread, tower of leaning tuna tartare, and a dish that inspires you to bust a move, the potato "Bomba" (a braised lamb picadillo with romesco aioli). While nibbling on those gourmet goodies, guests were gifted with endless amounts of flowing red and white wine, along with two signature cocktails, The Fountain and Cross Town Traffic. Both appropriately named for the location and the stiffness! Before the main courses could even rev their engines, Chef Jacquet surprised the dining darlins with a surprise dish, a fall-off-the bone pork rib dish that was out of this world. Collectively, the crowd favorite!
Even though the group could have called it a night there, the night went on to feature a "start" menu of calamari, a kale and apple salad, and a buratta and heirloom beets salad. As if that wouldn't stop you in your tracks, the kitchen then presented a "main" course of risotto, hand-harvested diver scallops, braised Boulder Valley short ribs, roasted jidori half chicken, and Australian lamb sliders. Ummm…sensory overload!
While some may have wanted to throw in the towel, The Whisper Lounge challenged us all to then indulge in the famous Hot Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding, buttermilk panna cotta, brownie, and cinnamon-apple hand pies. Yes, that happened.
A serious hats off to the phenomenal staff at The Whisper Lounge, the hard-working kitchen crew, and of course the impeccable, Chef Anthony Jacquet.
Stuffed to the brim,
LA East CM
