To warm up the winter, the Yelp Elite Squad in Maine was recently treated to a taste of authentic and halal Middle Eastern food at Falafel Time in Portland.
Elites visited during one of the coldest, snowiest weeks of the year, but owner Qutaiba Hassoon welcomed them into his new business with a hot falafel while they chose what they wanted off the menu like tabbouleh, beef kebab, okra curry, spinach curry, chicken shawarma, cheesy bread, baba ganoush, baklava, and more.
I’ve never felt so welcomed in a restaurant before. I was greeted with a warm smile, immediately followed by an informative conversation and then handed a sample of falafel (my first ever!) while I waited. Both mom and son were so sweet! As suggested, I ordered a combo plate so I could try a little of everything. I also purchased a side of tabbouleh and a candy called halkoum.Yelp Elite, Crystal C
From the moment we walked in we were treated with kindness and care. I was with my two little ones and not only was no one fazed about them dancing and walking around the open restaurant space while we waited, they were talking with them and feeding them falafels!Yelp Elite, Sara G
