Recently, the Yelp Elite Squad in Maine were welcomed to Dina’s Cuisine in Portland where owner Ahmed Abbas serves up delicious Middle Eastern food. From falafel to shawarma, kebabs to kebbeh, baba ganoush to muhammara, and melt-in-your-mouth naan made fresh every day, Elites got to try (more than) a little of everything!
… I went for the chicken shawarma plate, which is a *huge* portion of spiced meat along with a tabbouleh salad, hummus, dolmas, pickled beets, yogurt sauce, a side of fries, and pita bread. I heard another customer ask for her wrap ‘spicy’, so I got some of that sauce on the side too and was very happy with my combo. There’s a huge case of fresh sides all ready for you to take home, so I also got more hummus (they have different kinds, and I got the one with za’atar spice), some spicy baba ganoush (not sure what the spice is but it has a nice zip to it), a lamb korma stew, and, of course, some baklava (some with walnuts and some with pistachios). Next time I’ll get some extra of their homemade pita bread too, because it’s fluffy and soft and perfect (you can watch them make it while you’re there!).Anne S, Yelp Elite
Wow! What fantastic food! I ordered the gyro plate and got so much food: grilled lamb, tzatziki, creamy hummus drizzled with olive oil and za’atar (I think), tabouleh, pickled beets, dolmas, flat bread, and a generous amount of fries. I made sandwich bites by tearing off pieces of the bread topping with everything on the plate except the fries. Great combo that I couldn’t stop eating! …update: 9pm… tried my sandwich bite combo again, and is it possible that it tastes even better now?Cindy Y, Yelp Elite

About Dina’s Cuisine
“Cooking is our life: memories, present, and for sure it’s our future. Yes, we have our secret recipes that we keep in our hearts like promises, but what makes us different is bigger than ‘secret recipes’, and that’s the true love we feel when we cook. We flew all over the Middle East and most of the Mediterranean to come back with most popular dishes that took those communities ages to develop then pass their experiences from one generation to another. We are very positive you will like our food, but we hope you will spread that love to our great community too.”
