For most Yelpers, the words Bourbon & Beef are as natural a combination as peanut butter & jelly. But for those with any skepticism about the marriage of tastes, Bourbon & Beef surely set the record straight last week by hosting not one, but TWO Elite Events, on two consecutive nights, for two different groups of Elites. Double the pleasure!
Bourbon & Beef
is one of Oakland's newest dining destinations, and naturally, they wanted to meet their local Elite Squad and treat them to some of their signature flavors. Jana C attended the Social Social hour on Tuesday and reports "It was like I was having Thanksgiving dinner early, as the
communal table was set beautifully, with orange
flowers and candles. An antipasto platter welcomed us in, and the space,
though quaint, is decorated with warm bistro feel."
Bernadette M, who enjoyed sitting at the bar watching the barrel-aged Negroni magic, adds "The abundance of food offered was incredible. Smelt with a delicious red
sauce, peppers, ahi tuna, crab cakes that sat on top of a generous cut of a lime wheel, and spicy short ribs over
cabbage and chimichurri sauce made my taste buds very happy."
Staying true to their namesake, Bourbon & Beef opted to feauture barrel-aged Negroni's along with red & white wines, and champagne cocktails. John H calls the Negroni "sweet and stiff — the unexpected buzz carried me
nicely over towards a happy hour with some new-found yelp buddies." Mission accomplished!
The second night, "Nosh la Noche", featured Bourbon & Beef's late night menu. Yue L reports "Our gracious waiters and waitresses came by to each table throughout the
night with delicious bites such as jalapeno poppers, fried smelt on
tomato slices, crab cakes, spicy chicken wings and short riblets and
other goodies that were decadent and tasty." Negroni's flowed once again and Wendy H was converted saying "I'm not a huge whiskey drinker, but their bourbon negronis was wonderful. Smooth, gentle whiskey with a slight tang."
Terri T left with a delicious taste in her mouth, noting "Bourbon and Beef has moved up to the top my list of places to go in
Oakland. Now my decision is should I go for a date night or dinner with a
friend!" All of the above?
Many thanks to our festive hosts, talented chefs, and friendly bartenders at Bourbon & Beef! Read all the Elite feedback about the Saucy Social Hour and Nosh la Noche events, and check out the photos on Facebook.
Cheers, bourbon fiends & beef fans!
