Friday marked a glowing moon-lit sky and also the East Bay Elite Event, "Inside the Artist's Studio at Cotton Mill Studios in conjunction with F3.
Cotton Mill Studios is a unique artist work and loft space in Oakland and F3 is a an art event that takes place at the warehouse-loft community. This hodgepodge event is comprised of fashion shows, food trucks, live music, and a Main Gallery filled with the work of over 14 artists, designs, craftspeople, and makers of all kinds who reside at the Cotton Mill and all over the Bay Area." Monica hosted a intimate "Inside the Artist's Studio" event in one of these artist's actual work and art space.
Guests arrived at the Cotton Mills warehouse space via the convenient F3 shuttle. Stepping into a hip artsy world full of hanging wall art, records, hip seating and retro knick-nacks, yelpers like Eugene L sidled over to the Pisco Portón cocktail area for tasty Pisco watermelon cocktails. Tyler B couldn't get enough them: "One had a hint of ginger like a delicious, drunken, holiday gingerbread man. The other drink had a distinct jalapeno flavor and was a spicy kick in the ass." Bill B was partial to Don & Sons Wine's excellent wine and quality conversation. With the alcoholic libations in full-flow Root'd Tea, staffed by Yelp's favorite intern Miles, kept everyone hydrated with high quality teas throughout the evening.
Once thoroughly liquored up – yelpers quickly gravitated towards Tacos El Autlense's impressive spread of fresh tacos featuring: "three meats, over 6 toppings and tons of hungry yelpers to gobble them up." Elizabeth C was glued to Angel Cakes' display, and was so in love with Jen's magical raspberry lemon sugary cupcake creations that she ate 3 of them all at once! With drinks, tacos, and cupcakes in hand, yelpers were able to get their party photos taken in front of Drop It Modern's chic backdrop, while Yelp's own The Notorious R.U.G kept the place spinning. A flirty parrot, even popped his head to Ruggy's jams.
Debbie T was thoroughly impressed with the space and the diversity of happenings within it: "I've never been to an artist studio loft before, and the lofts here def. transported me to somewhere on the East Coast, preferably Brooklyn with its high ceilings and brick walls. There was a bohemian/hipster vibe too. For instance, an entire loft dedicated to pinball machines?. Diana M gushed with yelpy love after the tremendous event: "I am SO PROUD to wear my YELP ELITE watch with pride!"
