Dazzling Drinks In Downtown Nashville

Hotels-for-locals are on trend. Cities like NYC, Miami Beach and New Orleans have known this for years. Nashville is finally catching up. No longer are hotels places at which you drop off relatives, never again to darken a door until you say hello/good-bye. Now, hotels are the very places locals seek out for food, drink and to be seen. Downtown’s Holston House hotel checks all those boxes. Set in a historic building just west of all the lights of Broadway, the hotel offers a unique perspective on Downtown Nashville that many tourists and locals don’t often enjoy. Adding to that uniqueness is the cocktail program at the hotel’s downstairs and rooftop bars. Bar TENN and TENN on Top serve up one of a kind drinks, paying homage to Tennessee’s rich spirit traditions as well as to some of the regional classics people love. The Yelp Nashville Elite Squad had the chance to experience both. Starting with a Kentucky Mule, they were welcomed to Bar TENN by beverage director, Don H, who walked (drank?) them through the differences and profiles of rye and bourbon. Keeping their bellies filled during the tutorial were the skilled chefs of TENN, who amazed with all manner of sliders and charcuterie. Mother Nature decided to throw a wrench in the programming by opening up the skies and raining for hours so the rooftop portion (an Austin-esque pool party) didn’t happen but Elites still had the opportunity to tour the roof and enjoy its frozen cocktail program. Couple that with views and good friends and there’s little doubt about where to wind up this summer. Guests wrote their impressions here and you can find photos here. Summer’s here. Beat the heat in style.
