Ever since the blue-and-yellow Big Top tent arrived in town, Portlanders have been clamoring for the chance to experience Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities. The latest spectacle from Cirque du Soleil, this show promised to feature Cirque’s signature mix of acrobatics, music and magic. So when a select few of Portland’s Yelp Elites won exclusive VIP passes, they knew they were in for an evening they’d not soon forget!
The night of the show, Yelpers made their way into the private VIP Suite. First things first, the guests enjoyed a welcome glass of Prosecco. After taking their pictures at the step-and-repeat, the obvious next stop was the buffet. Featuring inspired morsels as creative as the show they preceded, the Yelpers enjoyed delightful bites such as antipasti served in cups made of fried salami, grilled oysters under a parmesan crust, and chicken & waffle skewers. For sweets, both the spoon-sized servings of crème brûlée and the miniature ice cream cones were giant hits!
Then it was time for the main attraction. The Yelp Elites found their seats and were amazed at how close they were to the action. The lights went down and the music started, transporting the audience to an entirely new world! Telling the story of a Seeker who discovers a hidden, invisible world inside his larger-than-life curio, Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities mixed traditional circus vaudeville with the globe’s very best in acrobatics in a way that was could only be described as classic Cirque du Soleil. Performance after performance, Yelpers were on the edge of their seat, feeling like kids again.
After the grand finale and after the cast took their bows, the guests made their way out of the tent and back into the real, slightly less magical world.
