What do you get when you combine 70+ Elites and guests, some delicious food and a lot of tequila? A fantastic fiesta, that's what! Last weekend Yelpers got together for Yelp's Cinco de Brunch-o Elite Event at Verde Mexican Kitchen & Cantina. With over 170+ tequila's behind the shelf, Verde has bragging rights to one of the very first tequila bars in the city. Now we call that a reason to celebrate!
"Walking up to the building, I knew right away I was in for a treat. Green to me represents what is fresh and Verde is fresh," exclaimed Lucretiz C. "The owners are just darling and the decor inside is some of the best I've seen. Behind the bar is a beautiful mosaic of an owl made from blue and brown tile… The art alone is enough to take a trip their!"
Guests were treated to a super special sampling of their brand spankin' new brunch service. Jarrett H can't stop raving about the brunch bites. "The hash is fantastic: smokey brisket, large chunks of red and green peppers and sweet potatoes. The Torta de Pavo is excellent, with Oaxaca cheese and house cured bacon on bolillo – a Mexican bread that reminds me of a mix between a baguette and ciabatta. But the hit is certainly the french toast, stuffed with house made brioche and jalepeno cream cheese. It's sweet and spicy, with the spice not overwhelming except for one jalepeno-filled bite, which made it perfect!"
Jeff, Verde's owner, treated everyone to an exclusive Tequila 101 class during the festivities. "Blanco, reposado and anejo," Lauren G "had no idea tequila has such depth. I now know I prefer it aged. Before learning about it, it was more of something I dreaded after a friend decided to take the night in that direction. Now, I'll be back one Wednesday to check out their $3 tequila tasting! I can't wait!"
A big thank you to Verde Owner Jeff Catalina and the amazing staff for treating Yelpers to such a phenominal fiesta! Also, thanks to Ray Miles Photography for the fab photo's that you can check out here. And last, but certainly not least, thanks to Don Pantaleón for providing the delish tequila for the featured punch served.
