Cinco De Cycle Raises $1,600+ For GoBike Buffalo

May is National Bike Month, and to help kick off the cycling celebration, Yelp had the chance to partner up with GObike Buffalo to throw a unique party on the 5th. People who were a little bike-curious, and those who shared a great love for cycling in the city were invited together for an exciting night of biking workshops, beer and bucha – what we like to call Cinco-de-Cycle!

We enticed and intrigued our Yelpers with an elevator ride to the third floor of the 500 Seneca building, where our event consumed the beautiful atrium and offered guests some delicious dishes never before seen in Buffalo! Sticking with the Cinco-de-Mayo spirit, involved businesses had the chance to create a unique sampler just for this event!

Teton Kitchen’s Sushi Tacos were an absolute hit with the crowd, and many were able to try Buffalo’s first Phorittos, courtesy of Pho Lantern Restaurant. Undergrounds Cafe also offered an amazingly tasty salad. For dessert, we had the soon-to-open Hertel Avenue Poutine & Cream scoop up some Margarita ice cream, and the churros served by Private Knives Catering left us feeling like we had a truly unique Cinco-de-Mayo celebration.

But the fun didn’t stop there – GObike Buffalo presented our guests with a series of cycling workshops, each geared toward educating proper bike maintenance, discussing ways cycling has changed the city, and more ways people can get involved within the biking community. Campus Wheelworks brought a pair of bikes for Yelpers to use in a simulator program, and we also had a super-cool smoothie bike for guests to use to make their own personalized smoothies! Reddy Bikeshare even brought some of their bikes along for the ride.

Not only did we pedal and party, but we were also able to raise money for GObike, which will continue to work toward making cycling a safer activity in the City of Buffalo.
