In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, Yelp North Shore Elites *escaped to Cuba* in the Alligator room, and celebrated an evening of food, drinks, music and flamenco dancing at 90 Miles Cuban Cafe in Lincolnwood. As guests arrived, they were directed to a select table, where plantain appetizers and garlic dip were waiting. Once seated, sampler drinks (red sangria, white sangria and mojitos) and three different types of empanadas (beef, chicken and vegetables) were served. After the owner and his family stopped by to share the back story of the restaurant and all the hard work that goes into creating each dish, guests were welcome to a buffet of authentic Cuban menu favorites. Bites included, chicken tamal, black beans and rice, sweet plantains, Cuban yellow rice, lechon (roasted pork), a flavorful vegetarian dish with tofu, and bread pudding for dessert…if one could find room!
