On Friday, July 13, fifty Chicago Elites were invited to Chicago Chop House in River North for an evening of fancy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, along with true crime stories from Family Secrets Tour owner and host, Frank Calabrese. As Elites entered the vintage building on Ontario Street around 5pm, they were blown away by how gorgeous the inside of the building was… and were pleased to know it had central air conditioning!
Elites were introduced to a variety of cocktails that will soon be featured in Chicago Chop House’s speakeasy, which will open sometime later this year. Some of these cocktails included a drink called the King’s Bee’s Knee’s (Bulleit Bourbon, honey, and fresh lemon) and the Purple Valentine (Grey Goose, Chambord, fresh lemon and sugar), and so many more! Chicago Chop House was also gracious enough to serve passed hors d’oeuvres — and we’re talking fancy hors d’oeuvres, like lobster rolls, steak tartare, and prosciutto-wrapped burrata.
While Elites got a taste of Chicago Chop House’s food and drink, Frank Calabrese of Chicago’s Family Secrets Tour walked around and gave private, personalized excerpts from his five-star true crime tour. He also gave each Elite a complimentary ticket to take his tour in the future. Starting in late July, he’ll be bringing his tour to Chicago Chop House for part of the summer.
At the end of the evening, owner Matthew McCahill gathered a few of the remaining Elites for a private tour of the building, including where the speakeasy will be located once it is finished (hint: it’s on the top floor!). Thank you so much to Chicago Chop House, Matthew, and Yvette for your hard work on planning this event with us!
