With Women’s History Month, we’d like to recognize and show some appreciation to these amazing businesses founded and owned by women. Madison and the greater area are flush with women-owned businesses and they deserve love all year round. Take your fellow friends and head over to one of them now!
If you’re looking to get crafty….
“They make crafting really accessible. Creating things can be really intimidating because it’s hard to pick a project and then go out and buy everything you need to execute the project. They do the hard parts for you.” – Emily D
“You can also create your own clay pieces, have a painting party in their Party Room, take a class to learn to throw clay on the wheel (I think that’s how you say it), or make glass art and there are many beautiful examples to inspire you.” – Shawn S

If you’re doing a little shopping….
“Little Luxuries has long been a favorite store of mine downtown. It’s successfully changed with the times. In my most recent visit, I was eyeing up socks, scarves, unique kid toys, gorgeous ornaments, unique reading glasses, journals, some mindfulness items; that was just for myself.” — Audrey N
“I could spend an entire day in this store shopping for things I never knew I needed. I love the all natural-cruelty free items.” – Dayna M

If you want to get your sweat on….
“Let me start by saying I have never taken a barre class before and was actually pretty nervous about it. That all went away as soon as I got there. The ladies at check in did everything they could to make me feel comfortable & confident: showing me around, helping me grab the stuff I would need for class, and answering all my questions.” – Mallory B

“First fitness class taken since I had my little babe–was intense, in a good way!..Everyone was very accommodating and I ended up purchasing a pair of cute wraps there for $10… I was exhausted but it felt great to experience something new!” – Dorthy X
“I have always been very impressed with Cassie and Erica’s ability to teach a fun class for yogi’s of all ability levels. I look forward to the monthly Sunday afternoon class. Whether it is the hour long yoga class or the free beer afterwards, it makes for a wonderfully relaxing Sunday and preps me for the long week ahead.” – Brianna M
If you’re looking for some healthy eats…
“This place should not only be your destination for the next Instagram backdrop but also if you’re feeling a little deflated from this gross weather and need a pick me up. Dairy free, no added sugar, but the nut milks tastes like milkshakes!” – Chy R

“Highly recommend their açaí bowls or the peanut butter smoothie! Dairy free, gluten free, vegan options. Great healthy and tasty fuel for your body!” – Robyn L
“Everything on the menu can be made as a wrap or salad. I’ve always picked the salad. One thing I love is that they don’t skimp out on any ingredients, including the meat! Everything is always fresh and tasty. I’ve tried the pad thai salad and loved it!” – Esha K
If you’re in a pastry mood…
“Batch is home to local savory and sweet treats that are perfectly delightful – highly recommend. You can find baked goods in all sizes – ranging from small shortbread cookie bites and mini-cupcakes to whole cakes and loaves of bread. The gruyere croissant is my go-to.” – Molly J
“Truly inspiration food. Options for every taste and occasion. I have had several Paleo Mama foods and have not found one I don’t like. While the pizza crust and the magic bars are an easy favorite I am never disappointed when I try a new product.” – Deborah R
“Bloom Bake Shop continues to delight me. I feel welcome and comfortable in the space and the food is always a treat. I buy cupcakes regularly as gifts, as they are beautiful and delicious.” – Monica S

If you’re looking for some grub…
“This, in my opinion, is very authentic cooking…My wife had the pad Thai — fresh peanuts, excellent rice noodles, and so much flavor. Combine it with a riesling wine for a great experience.” –TJ R
“This place is affordable, gluten friendly, and I’ve always gotten quality food here. It is in a great location and it is inviting for students of all genders with the trans and gay flags in the windows.” – Becca T

If you need a little R&R…
“Came here for a maternity massage and it was so nice. Everyone here is friendly and the atmosphere was so relaxing. It smells really nice here too! ” – Vilay W

“Suzie is a very energetic & enthusiastic person in life & business! She is not only great at waxing and spray tans, but is a great resource for other services as well. She is very connected in her industry for hair, makeup, tanning, therapy, health recommendations, etc.” – Crystal W
If you’re catching up over some drinks…
“Wide selection of wine and some beers to choose from. My book club met here last night and enjoyed several reds. They also let you carry in your own food so we filled up on snacks to go with the wine. Several large tables are available and some couch seating too.” – Britt K
“I could happily spend every Saturday morning here at their wine tasting. It’s delicious, generous, and educational. Well tasting exceptional lines, you have the opportunity to learn about the types of grapes they’re made from, where they come from, why they taste the way they do, people that own the Vineyard, etc.” – Lydia R
“This is a fun and intimate space with a market that downtown Verona was otherwise missing – wine! There are plenty of restaurants and pubs you can go to in the area to get some offering of wine (and an upscale Italian place next door), but to have some place dedicated to wine and various wine selections without the full meal is nice.” – Lindsay K
