"Wine. Socks. Baked goods. What else can you ask for?" Jennifer H explains: as you entered, you were "handed a pair of red softball-style knee socks. Right from the
entrance way you were encouraged to take kick off your shoes (literally)
and have a great time." Where did this take place? A new hot spot on Allen St: The Rooster & Two Chicks, an eclectic gift shop and bakery (all in one) started by three high school friends that reunited in Buffalo. Rick Smith (artist / designer), Arlene Rung (the baker) and Barbara Buchnowski (marketing guru).
Yelpers were treated to four different kinds of wines (from City Wine Merchant), a plate of cheese (thanks to Nickel City Cheese) and baked goods that had everyone raving. "The baked goods that they offered were so delicious. They had ornately
decorated cupcakes, delicious little blueberry and raspberry creme
tarts, and salted caramel chocolate chip cookies" recalls Jennifer H.
"The shop itself was really really cool. From what I understand, the
"Rooster" is the mastermind behind the crafts that are displayed all
over the place. Creativity was on every inch of the walls! Every time
that I thought that I'd seen everything they had to offer, I noticed
something else. Prices were very reasonable for what they were offering,
and everything seemed to be one of a kind." Peter B loved how "fun the music was" and enjoyed "getting to dance around." The atmosphere was
funky and and so the music and decor really made the event," and he loved noticing the treasures all around: "I liked that the store didn't necessarily have shelves and instead had
things tacked on the wall and on tables. One table was even made out of
Karen M sums it up: "If you're looking for an unusual gift that won't break your budget, check out The Rooster & Two Chicks." You can spend time simply browsing around and enjoying the stores creations, while eating one of their delicious baked goods in the process! Don't miss out on Allentown's newest hip shop!
