Brooklyn Locks It Down

 

Brooklyn bars don't get much better than the Lock Yard. This Bay Ridge favorite boasts some of the best food in the borough, a fantastic tap selection, and as Jaclyn L says, "the real gem is the outdoor garden – very whimsical space with dimly lit paper lanterns and fabric banners with plenty of seating for two, or for you and your gang." Last night, they lived up to their excellent reputation when they welcomed in the Brooklyn Elite Squad for an evening of fun. Check out the photos, the reviews of the event, and read on for more fun…we promise that like Jaclyn, the only thing you'll be asking yourself is, "Why haven't we come here before?" 

 The biggest point of contention all night was which of the bites of food was the favorite! With samples from nearby Ho' Brah Tacos and The Kettle Black, there was definitely some dissension in the ranks. Matteo R reports it was all fantastic: "The fried pickles and the wings were delicious (particularly with that Jack Daniels sauce), just like the Johnny Cash hotdog (chili, cheddar cheese, and diced onions), but the pork empanadas from Ho' Brah were the star of the night for me." I can't really disagree with any of that.

Deoroop M asks a question of his own: "What's the best way to ring in October on a nice, cool fall evening? Well, with Oktoberfest/Pumpkin Ale from the remarkable Blue Point Brewery, of course!" This local Long Island brewery has been turning out amazing brews for years, and their perfect fall selections are no exception. They definitely represent the quality of the Lock Yard's tap selection, and until last night Ingrid S didn't realize they had tasting flights: "When I'm in the area again, this would definitely be my go to bar."

 

Basically, as Matthew W reports: "Delicious beers, fabulous food and, most importantly, a fantastic group of people made this evening one to remember.  I was most impressed by the extremely professional and kind staff working at the Lock Yard.  Wow!  I hear they have a smashing Trivia Night on Wednesdays–something to keep in mind!"

A huge thanks to Tommy, Jason, Crystal, Katie, and the rest of the amazing Lock Yard staff for welcoming us in for an awesome night. I'd have to agree with Cynthia P: "I can't wait to go back. They've gained a repeat customer, and I'll be sure to bring a large group of friends to enjoy the amazing back yard the next time I go." See you all there!
