Some may think it a tricky task to ask 150 Elites and their guests to wakey-wakey for a Saturday morning Elite event. Maybe it was the picture perfect weather that had them setting their alarms, or perhaps it was the promise of smokey meats, icy brews and cinematic candy? Whatever the reason, throngs of Yelp Boston's finest arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed to Kendall Square Cinema for film, food and fun!
The Boston Underground Film Festival had just kicked off, and the organizers treated our Elite Squad to an hour long screener of select scenes, music videos and animated shorts from the fest's lineup, all from the comfort of our private auditorium. Big buckets of iced down Narragansett lined the rear wall of the theater, featuring a sneak peek of the RI brewery's new Bock and recently released Porter in addition to the classic Lager, while HINT water provided hydration for those opting not to tipple.
After the screening, guests rushed the screen where Blackstrap BBQ had a picnic worthy spread of smoked, pulled BBQ chicken with coleslaw on a homemade chip, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato salad and fresh, cold watermelon. To top it off, our very own Marilyn Monroe incarnate offered up bacon wrapped, flash fried smoked sausage with a selection of Blackstrap's housemade sauces to slather on.
On the way out, everyone got their very own goodie bag stocked with Yelp high bounce balls, freebies from Blackstrap and a complimentary ticket to any screening during BUFF's 13th run of independent flicks! While we spent most of the time in the dark, Tatsu was on hand to snap some pics of the crowd and well afterwards, the modern day Siskel & Eberts are Talking it up and cranking out reviews on the Event listing. Coming up in April: a nap! Yeah, right.
