This February Yelp is proud to celebrate Black History Month. With Valentine’s Day falling in BHM, it’s only natural that we encourage you to support Black-owned businesses for love day.
These lovely local businesses all ship nationally (and some internationally, too). Whether you want to send a pal a gift, your love some sweets, your mom something special or anything to anyone, really, we’ve got you covered.

“So many local Detroit products in one place! This was a life saver for one stop holiday shopping. Not only did I leave with a bunch of cool and unique gifts (and a little something for myself), I felt good about spending my money with small local businesses (the marketplace itself is black woman owned and curated!). Great location in Corktown right off Trumbull, just look for the sidewalk sign. They even have an app you can shop on from home then quick pick up in the store.”

“Renton is in a period of construction upheaval, but their to-go line is still open for business. Unfortunately my carelessness condemned my cup to the curb, but they refreshed my order quickly. It was without a doubt the best oat milk latte I’ve ever had. They also sell plenty of gear and beans here, and I highly recommend taking a bag home and learning how to brew coffee without a machine. Their aromatic beans deserve to be poured over at exact temperatures, so I’m going to use Boon Boona as my excuse to buy upgraded coffee equipment. Upgrade your life by experiencing their coffee.”

“The Hogg Brothers, Duane and David, are two brothers that reside in St. Pete. They started roasting coffee as a hobby. After coming across the idea of barrel aging coffee beans in alcohol containers (David saw this in a gift shop in Tennessee) the brothers decided to bring something like that to Florida… To date, I’ve only tried the Jamaican Rum (although I have the Whiskey Beans on order). The beans definitely smelled boozy everytime I opened the bag. The resulting cup of coffee was smooth with just a hint of rum.”

“The boutique is really cute. Its in a row home and feels light and airy when you enter. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the dad (I love this family operation). He gave me time to smell the different shea butter creams and natural soaps (yes I had my mask on of course). I ended up putting together a kit for my mom and sister, who are both essential workers at this time and I am sure their hands are dry from the excessive hand washing these days. The dad wrapped my items nicely and I was ready when they arrived. The creams and soaps were such a hit, both my mother and my sister wanted to visit the store to get more items for their coworkers back home. So we went again on Sunday to get more products.”

The texture of my Spiced Caramel Apple cupcake was nearly the same as a regular cupcake made with egg, and the flavor infused by including apple cider and applesauce into the mix was incredible.”

“This is beautiful store with a variety of different products for hair and skin. This store brings together different local and more well known businesses that produce amazing products. This is a very nice black owned business that proudly supports other black owned businesses and the owner will make you feel welcome the minute you walk into the door. I went in with the intention am to buy a styling gel and left with a styling gel, a moisturizer for my face, and a head wrap. I will be returning many times in the future.”

“This women owned company uses all natural ingredients and has created some amazing products. My favorites are the face oil, salt bars (omg) and their multi use oil. I’m a huge huge fan. I ordered a dozen to be shipped to me when the shutdown first happened but unexpectedly had to move across the country due to military orders. The owner was so kind and gracious and made sure my cookies were delivered to my new address. They were fresh and huge and delicious and oh my gosh I’m gonna go order more now. “Let me start out by saying I was very skeptical of going to a candle making place in fear that the candle wouldn’t smell great and I would have no idea what I’m doing. Well, I was entirely proved wrong… Faith helped us narrow down pairings, and which scents would even compliment the ones we liked best. We even got complimentary pumpkin wax to add to our candles. Faith explained everything great and worked very well with us to make this the best experience possible. We made two candles 8oz and 4oz. We were provided with many options including color of wax, color of candle jar, and even decorating the candle jar after.”

“I bought one of her famous ‘cupcakes in a jar’, as well as two sprinkle mixes (they’re so cute), so I thought they’d make awesome gifts. I chose the MC Grahammer cupcake: cheesecake filling and cherry frosting, topped with graham cracker crumbs. I tried to make it last 24 hours, but kept being tempted to take more bites. It was perfectly sweet without being too sweet (ya’ know?!)… When you place an order, she ships it out instantly, and I got my shipment only 24 hours later. “I found Sugar & Grace when I randomly visited Selden Market one weekend. It’s the cutest little shop with candles, tshirts, oils and coffee mugs. The most intriguing thing about this place is that you can make your own candles! I was lucky enough to attend a workshop with the owner, Erica and her employee, Alex. Both women are so kind and genuine, it was truly a memorable experience. “
