Around the World in 8 Weeks – Egypt

Tuesday 24th of May saw the fourth installment  of the Around the World in 8 Weeks
Event Series. The Belfast Yelp Community have been invited to pack their bags and head off on on a world food tour! Over the next seven weeks the Yelp Community will be jet setting around the globe… without even leaving Belfast. We’ll be visiting eight amazing Belfast eateries, each one serving up incredible eats from distinct parts of the world.

The fourth night as part of the series was held at the authentic Egyptian paradise Sophia in the Queens Quarter area of Belfast. The decor in Sophia resembles that of any Cairo eatery, light and bring with the sun beaming through the huge glass doors. Thirty Yelpers both newbies and Elites enjoyed the spectacular three course feast. The starters were a taste of Egypt with the plates being made up of bay leaves, samosas and freshly baked breads with a sharp pomegranate salad – clean plates all round. For main we were served a Egyptian mixed grill with Chicken, traditional rice and stuffed peppers and aubergines  these both had just the right amount of spice. The third and final course was rice pudding with an Egyptian twist. Most of the Yelpers seemed to devour it in two bites.

This was the fourth week in a row the Yelp Belfast community left a city centre eatery full to the brim and it’s going to continue for a further four weeks! Next up for the World Food Tour we jet off to the warmer climates of Hawaii to enjoy traditional food, hula dancing and and awesome craic! The plane will touch down in Hawaii in Victoria Square Belfast on Tuesday 7th June and thirty more Yelpers will be given the chance to have their taste of Hawaii.
