With 94 million snaps and steadily growing, #FoodPorn has taken over social media, and our dinner tables, at rapid shutter speed. Despite the fact it comes with the incredibly irritating habit of snapping a photo of your food before any is eaten, everyone seems to be leaping onto the bandwagon quicker than it takes to make nitrogen ice-cream.
But we aren’t talking about that spaghetti bolognese you make three nights a week after work. No, the photos can’t merely be of any ordinary meal. It has to be something extravagant, something mouth-watering. A meal that makes your hands-shake and lips tremble as you utter, “I need that… now.” It arouses a hunger that you didn’t know you had.
The meal depicted for #FoodPorn is generally seen as a ‘guilty pleasure,’ something that you know you shouldn’t be eating, but are going to anyway. These photos are making food sexy and just like porn, there is something for everyone.
Foodies all over the world have contributed to the #FoodPorn movement to provide potential eaters such as ourselves the type of meal that we would find desirable.
