Welcome to 24 Hours In St. Augustine, Florida, where Yelp helps you get the most out of your day when heading to the oldest and one of the coolest small cities in the U.S.

That is right, along the northeast coast of Florida is St. Augustine. Founded by the Spanish in 1565, it lays claim as the oldest city in America. But don’t let that fool you, the history only makes this metro that much more modish. A group of people who know this spot better than most are the @YelpFlorida Community Managers, who love helping locals discover hidden gems and giving other Floridians a reason to take a day trip to St. Augustine. A few of us took a ride to experience and share what a perfect day in St. Augustine looks like.

7 am: Strap on those walking shoes and prepare for a day of fun, food, and frights. Come on, you can’t be the oldest city and not have haunts among you.

8 am: Grab a seat and possibly get your buns sticky at The Bunnery Bakery and fill up on a hearty breakfast. Then head down the street to grab your liquid fuel for the day in the form of a snickers Cappuccino or a Milky Way latte at the Crucial Coffee Cafe (let’s pretend calories don’t count today).

9:30 am: Across the street you begin your history adventure at Castillo de San Marcos. Take your time soaking in all the knowledge and try and catch a cannon demonstration. Like don’t get hit, just watch from afar.

11 am: Shop, learn more, and explore. Walk the bustling, pedestrian-only, Saint George Street. Begin at the ancient Huguenot Cemetery, head through the haunted City Gates, walk by the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse (don’t freak out, it’s only a doll in the top window) and stop by the Peña-Peck House.

1 pm: Soak in the gorgeous Florida weather. Post up under the trees in Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille’s garden and grab a Southern Mule with lunch because, vacation. (or for FL residents, staycation.)

2:30 pm: Head down to the Old Jail Museum and Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. Find out about criminals of the past all while drinking stinky water to stay young and beautiful.

4:30 pm: Rock the complimentary card at St. Augustine Distillery and get a free tour to learn about their luscious libations. Then, feast at The Ice Plant located directly above the distillery and experience what Brett N, Yelp Tampa CM, puts on his 1,000% You Must Do This list, when visiting St. Augustine.

7:30 pm: Grab your camera and try and get some creepy orbs snapped on your Sheriff’s Ghost Walk Tour. Just make sure the shadows don’t follow you home.  

9:30 pm: Celebrate your feet surviving the day and feast at Cousteau’s Waffle and Milkshake Bar. Bourbon whipped cream, need we say more?
