There are countless reasons to fall in love with Richmond. The central location means that it’s in close proximity to beaches and mountains, and a quick flight away from many other popular destinations. It has the perfect foundation for history, warm people, and local businesses–which are truly what breathe life into the city. We caught up with Community Manager, Lauri W, to see what her ideal 24 hours in Richmond looks like during this time of social distancing.

I love starting my day off with an iced coffee to get the blood flowing. During this time of social distancing, one of the things I’ve missed the most is being able to linger inside of a coffee shop with a chai latte, pastry, and my laptop. Thankfully, you can order ahead and pick up your items as early as 7:30am. Don’t forget to add a macaron to your order!

Once I’ve picked up my morning fuel, I head to the Overlook At Childsavers (an under-the-radar space with the best view of the city) with a picnic blanket, and savor every bite and sip.

11AM: Maymont ParkPhoto by Sahar R.
Time to walk off those breakfast calories! Maymont is an iconic Richmond institution. With its rolling hills, animals, playground, and nature center, it’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon solo or with the family. On an ideal day, I would walk the perimeter of the park, then lay under a tree and spend a few hours reading.

1PM: Soul TacoPhoto by Jamie L.
It’s lunch time and there’s no place I’d rather go than Soul Taco. If you like soul food and tacos, this is your place. It’s the best of both worlds! Their chicken fried steak, shrimp and grits, and catfish tacos are perfect. I call an order in for pickup, and then head home to devour them.

2PM: TURN RVAPhoto by TURN Cardio Jam Studio
To combat the afternoon fatigue, I hop online to take a class with TURN RVA! I love that they have added online classes to their lineup. It’s perfect for folks, like me, who work from home and need to be able to conveniently squeeze workouts in during the day.

6PM: Pizza ExpressPhoto by Mike F.
For dinner, I’m all about contactless delivery from Pizza Express. As someone who is recently gluten free, their cauliflower crust option cannot be beat. The sauce is incredible!

7PM: Gelati CelestiPhoto by Kamille P.
To satisfy that sweet tooth, Gelati Celesti is the perfect indulgence. I love their creamy, flavorful options–especially Butter Pecan and Just Ask!
