Restaurants are exploring how to best reestablish their dine-in service as new protocols and precautionary measures are being introduced to keep both restaurant staff and patrons safe.

As the reopening regulations continue to evolve, we encourage you to learn and strictly follow all local, county, and state regulations and laws that apply to reopening and operations, as well as guidance from trusted organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Restaurant Association (NRA). Be sure to also keep your website and Yelp page up to date for your customers as you adapt to industry changes.

Restaurant-specific resources
- The CDC released a guide for restaurants and bars including the reopening decision tool.
- Oyster Sunday’s comprehensive critical path outlines the key foundational tasks required to help restaurants and bars navigate the process of reopening their doors, including a task checklist to help you stay on track within each operational facet of your business (vendors, technology contracts, external marketing, etc.)
- The National Restaurant Association (NRA) provides their own reopening guidance, including food safety tips and hygiene resources and downloads.
- The American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA®) published reopening guidance for bars and restaurants.
Reopening playbooks
- Death & Co, a renown nightlife establishment in New York, debuted their approach, strategy, and response to COVID-19, a detailed 62-page reopening playbook.
- Hong Kong restaurant group Black Sheep Restaurants released a COVID-19 Playbook, which has been adopted worldwide and contains an array of guidance from hygiene to guest relations.
- ThinkFoodGroup, the company behind José Andrés’ restaurants, released their reopening playbook.
- The Momofuku Group has restaurants from Las Vegas to Sydney, and their handbook is a live document—being continuously updated as new regulations and guidelines develop.

- The CDC continues to release general and industry-specific guidance regarding the reopening of businesses:
