Providing accurate information continues to be vital for businesses of all types, whether you’ve changed your hours of operation or are offering curbside pickup. These six sections can be easily updated on your Yelp Business Page to help communicate operational changes.
- Provide details about your pickup, takeout, or delivery services
- Add health and safety measures
- Update your hours of operation
- Edit your COVID-19 banner message
- Add temporary closure information
- Add virtual service offerings
The first five COVID-related updates can be made in one central location via the Yelp for Business app or on your desktop or mobile browser:
On the app (iPhone/iPad or Android), tap Biz Info at the bottom of the screen; on your desktop or mobile browser, go to biz.yelp.com, and click on the Business Information tab.
Then under “Updates during Coronavirus,” click/tap on “Go to COVID-19 updates.”

Provide availability and details for your pickup, takeout, or delivery services
If you are providing pickup, takeout, and/or delivery services, be sure that info is up to date. We’ve recently added even more detailed options, including contactless delivery, curbside pickup, in-person visits, and more (options vary based on your business category).

Reminder for restaurants: If you are using reservation or waitlist software, be sure to update your availability on those platforms. Setting your availability ensures customers can’t book a table or add themselves to a waitlist if you’re not serving at that time.
Add your health and safety measures
Whether customers are staying within their homes or heading out to your business, you should provide up-to-date info on the health and safety measures you’ve put in place.
Simply mark which measures you’d like to be displayed on your page, including temperature checks, staff wears gloves, masks required, contactless payments, and more.
These measures will be displayed at the top of your Yelp Business Page.

Update your hours of operation
If your hours are temporarily different than normal, we recommend changing your Special Hours. You can edit your Special Hours by adding each day where your current operating hours are different from your regular hours listed on Yelp. Special Hours are set on a day-by-day basis and can be changed at any time. When you update your hours, a time stamp will appear on your page to show consumers that you’ve recently adjusted your hours.
Once your hours and days are saved, customers will see a banner highlighting your Special Hours on your Yelp Page as well as callouts in the hours section. You can change your regular hours of operation here as well.
Edit your COVID-19 banner message
A “COVID-19 Updates” section appears at the top of all Yelp Business Pages, which includes a customizable banner message along with your updated services and health and safety measures. You can edit this banner message to communicate specific updates about your business in response to COVID-19. If you don’t provide a custom message or edit any of the COVID-19 information, a generic banner will be shown. If you update other parts of the COVID-19 section and don’t update the banner, then no banner message will be shown.

Add temporary closure information
If you are not currently open for business—in-person or online—you can mark your business as temporarily closed. This information can be updated as frequently as necessary.
If you mark your business as temporarily closed, you will still be able to fully access and update your business account as needed. You can also turn on/off the Yelp “Message the Business” feature at any time, depending on if you are able or willing to respond to customer messages during that time.
Note: If your physical storefront is closed, but you are still offering services (for example, takeout, delivery, or virtual services), you should keep your business marked as open on Yelp and update your COVID-19 banner message to inform customers about your available services.
To mark yourself as temporarily closed, go to the same “Updates during Coronavirus” section, and click/tap the circle next to “No, I’m closed.” You will then be able to mark that you are temporarily closed as well as add a “Closed until” date. If you don’t know exactly when you’ll be reopening, we encourage you to choose an approximate date. This date can be updated at any time.
Once complete, these changes go into effect immediately on your business page.
Option to add virtual service offerings
Choose from new service offerings that showcase the ways your business is available online. Depending on your business category, these service offerings may be available:
- Virtual Classes
- Virtual Consultations
- Virtual Tasting Sessions
