

To celebrate Women’s History Month, including International Women’s Day on March 8, we’ve collected a hub of resources, tools, and stories about the many trailblazing women entrepreneurs who’ve built community on Yelp and beyond.
From auto shop owners to hair stylists, real estate agents to chefs, more than 365,000 businesses identify as women-owned on Yelp as of March 2023—and support for women-owned businesses on the platform continues to grow, according to Yelp data*.
From 2021 to 2022, Yelp saw a nearly 70% increase in searches for women-owned businesses on the platform, and the number of reviews mentioning “women-owned” more than doubled from 2019 to 2022. As of this March, about 16,000 reviews on Yelp mention “women-owned.”

Women-owned attribute
Business owners can add the “women-owned” attribute to display on their Yelp Page. This free, searchable attribute helps consumers find and support women-owned businesses in their communities.
If you are a women-owned business and want to add the attribute to your Yelp Page and to appear in “women-owned” search results, you can opt-in via your Yelp for Business account by following these simple steps:
- Log in to Yelp for Business (Business Information tab)
- In the Amenities section, click Add or Edit
- Select Yes next to “women-owned”
- Click Save Changes
This attribute is an opt-in only feature, as the decision to identify as women-owned should rest solely with the business.
Did you know?
- All businesses that select the women-owned attribute will be sent a free window decal in the mail (eligible for businesses with a physical location listed on Yelp).

- You can add unlimited attributes to your page to help you identify your business, including Black-owned, Asian-owned, Latinx-owned, LGBTQ-owned, veteran-owned, Open to All, and more. Add your choice of attributes by following the same instructions as above.
- A recent study shows businesses that adopt identity attributes on platforms like Yelp see an increase in engagement and revenue from customers who want to support their community and mission.
- The Yelp for Business x Luminary Fellowship provides 15 women a year with customized, one-on-one support from both Yelp for Business and Luminary, a global platform and professional networking hub. Meet this year’s winners.
- Yelp compiled a list of 10 standout women-owned businesses to watch, highlighting beloved businesses in food, beauty and home decor across the country.
Women in Business Summit
Every March, Yelp hosts the Women in Business Summit for women entrepreneurs looking to build and grow their businesses, while tackling the unique challenges they face.
Sessions span everything from finance to branding. It’s a chance to network and connect with people who could make all the difference down the line—and it’s a safe space to celebrate Women’s History Month with other business owners like you.

Part of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), OWBO helps women entrepreneurs secure business training, counseling, federal contracts, and access to credit and capital.
