To celebrate the special exhibition, OrigamiintheGarden, members of the Yelp Elite Squad were given the chance to view nearly 20 monumental pieces of art on display in the Missouri Botanical Garden. This one of a kind exhibit captures the delicate nature of paper in metal by elevating the ancient art of origami to new heights, using the technique of lost-wax casting and fabrication. The sculptures are placed throughout the landscapes of the Garden with over 18 playful yet elegant pieces, making the experience of strolling through MoBot unlike any trip before.
Elites were treated to complimentary daytime admission for themselves and a guest during this unique Elite Week experience, and a few members of the Squad chose to meet up to peruse the Garden together and have their photos taken by Rebecca K Clark Photography. With complimentary beverages like beer and wine, members of the Elite Squad meandered through the gorgeous grounds taking in the breathtaking work of Santa Fe artists, Jennifer and Kevin Box.
“We walked around for a couple hours, and STILL didn’t see everything. I could spend all day here! So many different plants and views to see. I was smiling the whole time. I’m not sure how we’ve never been here, considering we live 7 minutes from the entrance, but I’ll probably buy a membership after this. It was incredible, and exceeded our expectations.”
While every Elite gushed about having a favorite sculpture, they all captured photos of these unique origami sculptures, sharing over 300 memories with the Yelp community! From flying birds and painted ponies to emerging butterflies and floating boats, everyone raved about the exhibit and expressed deep gratitude for the additional passes they received from the Missouri Botanical Garden for a future visit.
