Black-owned businesses that ship for Valentine’s Day

This February Yelp is proud to celebrate Black History Month. With Valentine’s Day falling in BHM, it’s only natural that we encourage you to support Black-owned businesses for love day.

These lovely local businesses all ship nationally (and some internationally, too). Whether you want to send a pal a gift, your love some sweets, your mom something special or anything to anyone, really, we’ve got you covered.

Be sure to follow this collection of local Black-owned businesses and also check out our shoppable guide on Instagram. Plus, if you want to connect virtually, check out Be My Yelptine which includes numerous virtual events across U.S. and Canada, like making risotto or getting glammed up, highlighting some incredible Black-owned businesses.

AH Lip & Body Butter

Tacoma, WA

Gift suggestion: vanilla lip balm and body butter, $12

“So many local Detroit products in one place! This was a life saver for one stop holiday shopping. Not only did I leave with a bunch of cool and unique gifts (and a little something for myself), I felt good about spending my money with small local businesses (the marketplace itself is black woman owned and curated!). Great location in Corktown right off Trumbull, just look for the sidewalk sign. They even have an app you can shop on from home then quick pick up in the store.”

Boon Boona Coffee

Renton, WA

Gift suggestion: Dur Feres – Ethiopia (5 lbs.), $90

“Renton is in a period of construction upheaval, but their to-go line is still open for business. Unfortunately my carelessness condemned my cup to the curb, but they refreshed my order quickly. It was without a doubt the best oat milk latte I’ve ever had. They also sell plenty of gear and beans here, and I highly recommend taking a bag home and learning how to brew coffee without a machine. Their aromatic beans deserve to be poured over at exact temperatures, so I’m going to use Boon Boona as my excuse to buy upgraded coffee equipment. Upgrade your life by experiencing their coffee.”

They are made with high quality ingredients and you can taste it. My favorite are the cream pies. They ship across the US and sell them locally. The flavor holds true through the shipping process. Go get some today!”

Goody Gourmet’s

Milwaukee, WI

Gift suggestion: caramel and cheese mix popcorn, $8.50-$95

“The caramel and cheese are my absolute favorite combo but they also carry caramel with nuts like pecans and almonds as well… The triple mix is good as well… Literally everything in this place is good you just have to decide what type of mood are you in.”

Hogg Batch Coffee

St. Petersburg, FL

Gift suggestion: Coffee + Rum “Just Peachy”, $20-$36

“The Hogg Brothers, Duane and David, are two brothers that reside in St. Pete. They started roasting coffee as a hobby. After coming across the idea of barrel aging coffee beans in alcohol containers (David saw this in a gift shop in Tennessee) the brothers decided to bring something like that to Florida… To date, I’ve only tried the Jamaican Rum (although I have the Whiskey Beans on order). The beans definitely smelled boozy everytime I opened the bag. The resulting cup of coffee was smooth with just a hint of rum.”

Hunnybunny Boutique

Washington, DC

Gift suggestion: olive oil soap, $5

“The boutique is really cute. Its in a row home and feels light and airy when you enter. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the dad (I love this family operation). He gave me time to smell the different shea butter creams and natural soaps (yes I had my mask on of course). I ended up putting together a kit for my mom and sister, who are both essential workers at this time and I am sure their hands are dry from the excessive hand washing these days. The dad wrapped my items nicely and I was ready when they arrived. The creams and soaps were such a hit, both my mother and my sister wanted to visit the store to get more items for their coworkers back home. So we went again on Sunday to get more products.”

Layla’s Cool Pops

Kalamazoo, MI

Gift suggestion: cake pops (24), $48

“They’ve been offering quite a few vegan treats in the last few weeks, so I absolutely wanted to give those a try and was supremely impressed. The texture of my Spiced Caramel Apple cupcake was nearly the same as a regular cupcake made with egg, and the flavor infused by including apple cider and applesauce into the mix was incredible.”

NoLa Cookie

Harahan, LA

Gift suggestion: half dozen gourmet cookies, $22.95

“These are some of the best cookies I have eaten in my life. I tried the toffee, chocolate chip, turtle brownie, and butter ooey gooey. The cookies were absolutely divine. I was not expecting the toffee cookie to taste as good as it did, but baby, the power of underestimation is the devil. These cookies are the perfect mix of chewy and crunch.”

Organically Bath & Beauty

San Antonio, TX

Gift suggestion: rosewater mini gift set, $22

“This shop has the best organic, vegan, cruelty free products for your skin! I have a very sensitive skin, and for years I’ve suffered from rashes and allergic reactions to soaps. Frankly, I had given up and I thought I would have to live like this my entire life until I tried Organically Bath & Beauty oatmeal bar soap. The soap not only smells amazing, but my skin loved it! Since then, I’ve tried a few other items and all of them have been equally amazing.”

OwlNWood

Old Oakland, CA

Gift suggestion: unisex sporty heart/bright red sweatshirt, $62

“OwlNWood is a boutique filled with stylish leather handbags, clutches, wallets, jewelry, and several racks of unique designed garments.  Browsing through the racks of kitschy tees and scarves made me feel as though I was on a scavenger hunt looking for clandestine treasure… OwlNWood is quite a find for those of you who enjoy consignment shopping like me.”

– Yelp Elite Lucy M

Pinckney Cookie Cafe

Kirkland, WA

Gift suggestion: the Pinckney dozen, $28

“Every glowing review this place has is 100% accurate. Best cookies, best service, you just have to try these cookies. I ordered a dozen to be shipped to me when the shutdown first happened but unexpectedly had to move across the country due to military orders. The owner was so kind and gracious and made sure my cookies were delivered to my new address. They were fresh and huge and delicious and oh my gosh I’m gonna go order more now. The bourbon brown sugar one was so good but don’t sleep on the chocolate chip! Best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had.”

ReWax and UnWine

Union, NJ (and another location in New York)

Gift suggestion: luxury candle making kit, $59

“Let me start out by saying I was very skeptical of going to a candle making place in fear that the candle wouldn’t smell great and I would have no idea what I’m doing. Well, I was entirely proved wrong… Faith helped us narrow down pairings, and which scents would even compliment the ones we liked best. We even got complimentary pumpkin wax to add to our candles. Faith explained everything great and worked very well with us to make this the best experience possible. We made two candles 8oz and 4oz. We were provided with many options including color of wax, color of candle jar, and even decorating the candle jar after.”

Rude Boy Cookies

Albuquerque, NM

Gift suggestion: personalized cookie Valentine, $6

“[I] ordered some cookies for take out yesterday, they are simply phenomenal. My daughter adores the gold bars; she said she wants them for her next birthday and not a cake. I picked up some of the keto samoas for myself and my husband and oh my gosh, I can’t believe they are real. Our new go to treat.”

– Robin H

Savor V

Indianapolis, IN

Gift suggestion: peach cobbler in a jar, $8.99

“I bought one of her famous ‘cupcakes in a jar’, as well as two sprinkle mixes (they’re so cute), so I thought they’d make awesome gifts. I chose the MC Grahammer cupcake: cheesecake filling and cherry frosting, topped with graham cracker crumbs. I tried to make it last 24 hours, but kept being tempted to take more bites. It was perfectly sweet without being too sweet (ya’ know?!)… When you place an order, she ships it out instantly, and I got my shipment only 24 hours later. These are therefore such a perfect thing to ship to a friend to make their day.”

Sugar & Grace

Norfolk, VA

Gift suggestion: Black history + LOVE candle collection, $24

“I found Sugar & Grace when I randomly visited Selden Market one weekend. It’s the cutest little shop with candles, tshirts, oils and coffee mugs. The most intriguing thing about this place is that you can make your own candles! I was lucky enough to attend a workshop with the owner, Erica and her employee, Alex. Both women are so kind and genuine, it was truly a memorable experience. “

I would go to Sweet Skins whenever I wanted to treat myself to new clothes that I knew would last, and be fashionable and eco friendly all at the same time! Now that I live in Portland, I make it a point to make a trip to Sweet Skins every time I am in Eugene. I also shop online quite frequently and am always so pleasantly surprised at how fast my shipment comes! I love Sweet Skins!”

The Salt Lounge

Long Beach, CA

Gift suggestion: energy essentials kit, $50

“I am a full on, level 10,000 supporter of The Salt Lounge! Now that I’ve done an Akashic reading with Wes, I found that diving into the past cycles have really helped me integrate new abilities that I need for my current journey.  The guidance that came through has helped me significantly…  It’s not always easy to find healers that provide the forum for you to heal yourself. Yet they absolutely got it & I’m honored to be a part of their work since I’ve also completed level 2 of reiki certification. My gratitude goes to them. Thank you Salt Lounge for all that you do!”
