After thousands of Yelp employees transitioned to working from home earlier this year, many of us were not only missing daily interactions with our colleagues but also the perks that we’d come to enjoy. Most notably, the cappuccinos from the Yelp Café and the well-stocked shelves with a variety of healthyish snacks.
We decided to surprise our employees with a care package. Every item included came from a Black-owned business. Here are the vendors whose products we featured in our Yelp care package:
Brickhouse Coffee + Tea: Akera and Derrick founded their company with a mission to share delicious gourmet beverages and create a unique and exceptional experience with every sip. We enjoyed their cranberry apple seasonal tisane.
Partake Foods: When her daughter was diagnosed with severe food allergies as an infant, Denise noticed that there were few healthy snack options that were delicious and safe to eat. She set out to make her own, and our employees enjoyed her crunchy double chocolate chip cookies
Oh-Mazing Food: Stephanie believes in providing “from-scratch,” all natural meals for her family to promote a healthier lifestyle. She developed her own granola recipe to provide an alternative to some of the unhealthy snacks found in grocery stores. Our employees fell in love with her vegan “Caribbean Delight” granola.
Jen Hewett: Every year we work with a local artist to produce a one-of-a-kind Yelpiversary gift. For our 2020 gift, we invited San Francisco-based artist Jen Hewett to design a tote bag inspired by Yelp’s values. Since we couldn’t host our usual Yelpiversary celebrations in our offices, we added this special tote to our care package.
A big thank you to our Workplace team, who tirelessly assembled thousands of these Yelp care packages.
