Celebrating Black and Latinx Owned Businesses

Earlier this year during Black History Month, we launched the “Black-owned business” window cling. We mailed window clings to every one of the 5,000+ businesses that opted into being featured in one of these collections.
Following the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery in June 2020, Yelp launched a free searchable attribute that gives businesses the opportunity to identify as Black-owned, making it easy for consumers to seek out and support Black-owned businesses. Simultaneously, our Community team rallied to create over 80 collections of Black-owned businesses nationwide. (Both the attribute and the collections are opt-in only, as the decision to self-identify as Black-owned should rest solely with the business.)
Fast forward a few months, and we celebrated Latinx Heritage Month in September. Our Community team once again compiled collections – this time featuring Latinx-owned businesses. We sent everyone on this list a “Latinx-owned business” window cling.
If you’re a Black-owned or Latinx-owned business and interested in adding the free attribute to your Yelp page and appearing in search results, you can opt-in on your Yelp for Business account by following these simple steps. By doing so, you’ll automatically receive one of our free window clings.
