NiHao is a Chinese expression that means hello, a casual ice breaker between friends, family, and strangers that is oftentimes followed by “have you eaten yet?”
On September 23, Baltimore Yelpers got to say hello to NiHao – the newest and first Baltimore restaurant from Washington-area dining phenom Peter Chang and family – with an intimate virtual cooking event with their Chef de Cuisine. Helmed by daughter Lydia Chang and award-winning pastry chef Pichet Ong, NiHao brings contemporary Chinese flavors to Baltimore’s historic Canton neighborhood.
What was on the menu for this virtual Meet & Make? Their top-selling peking duck and a duck bone broth noodle soup kit.
Yelpers were able to order this exclusively-sized kit from NiHao for the event and sat down for a step-by-step tutorial on how to enjoy the peking duck (first, spread their house-made beet sauce), how to soft boil the veggies in the broth (approximately 20-30 minutes), and how to plate the dish like they would in the restaurant.
