Gallery Pastry opened their second dreamy location this June in the heart of downtown across the street from Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Not sure what to order when you visit? You can’t go wrong with the crème brûlée croissant French toast. We use our cinnamon twist croissant, soak them in crème brûlée base, then cook them on the griddle. It’s finished with barely sweetened cream, local honey comb, pecans and the salted lavender honey butter.
Located directly off Monument Circle on East Market Street, Soupremacy quickly pivoted in response to COVID-19 to offer family meal packs and delivery of frozen soup throughout the city. “Hot” on the seasonal menu right now: Gazpacho. There’s no soup that says “summer” and celebrates what’s in season quite like Gazpacho.
The Stergiopoulus family and Greek Islands Restaurant have been a downtown staple for more than 30 years. It’s a great time to order tasty strips of Greek Islands’ gyro meat topped with onions, tomatoes, tzatziki on pita bread and head out for a picnic.

New to the historic Fletcher Place neighborhood, Amberson Coffee & Grocer offers a much-needed addition of a local drive-thru coffee shop to the downtown landscape. Menu suggestion: try the iced horchatta latte!
LaTea Bubble Tea Lounge first opened its doors on Mass Ave in 2019. From making their own boba pearls in house to excellent customer service, Yelpers can’t get enough of this newer downtown business. Make the best of the hot summer months with LaTea’s fresh grapefruit green tea with chunks of fresh grapefruit throughout (it also pairs nicely with the homemade boba).
One of downtown’s newest businesses, Leviathan Bakehouse opened mid- July in the Chatham Arch neighborhood. From their old world bread loaves to the dreamy breakfast pastries, you’ll find something on the menu for everyone. Might we suggest the pressed-to-order mac and cheese panini? The sandwich features five cheeses, Parmesan breadcrumb-topped mac and cheese, wilted collard greens, house-made pickled red onions, and San Marzano tomato coulis. Currently offering curbside pick up and pre-orders.
Okay, so technically this one isn’t a dish but it’s hard to beat the outdoor space at Plat 99 at The Alexander Hotel. Currently on the cocktail menu: “The Meridian” featuring Roku Gin, Pisco Machu, ginger liqueur, hibiscus, lemon and aquafaba.
Need a date night in? Go for the vegan combo platter for two at Axum Ethiopian Restaurant. The platter features six flavor-packed dishes served with injera. Axum is conveniently located across the street from the beautiful Central Library, making it easier than ever to pick up your curbside book order while you’re in the neighborhood.
Cafe Patachou’s downtown location used the downtime during shutdown to give their dining space a face lift and boy oh boy, is it sparkling with the new look. We’re giving a nod to the classic cinnamon toast from Cafe Patachou – you can’t beat this simple and iconic order of sourdough slathered in butter and topped with cinnamon sugar.
