Our teams at Yelp spend a lot of time thinking about your business. We never stop making updates and adding new features to make your business look good on Yelp. Here are a few of the innovations we’ve recently unveiled for business owners, all of which are available now when you log into your Yelp Business Account.
A new look in your Business Account
You may notice something different the next time you log in to your Business Account. Yelp designers have been hard at work creating a cleaner, more modern look and feel for consumers and businesses, and some of the changes in the Business Account are making their debut this week. If nothing looks new to you yet, don’t worry—the new look is coming soon for everyone.
More control over who sees your ad
When consumers are searching on Yelp, they’re usually ready to buy. Ads are a good way to get your business in front of that high-intent audience, and Yelp’s Ads Settings give you more control over what your ad looks like and who sees it. The newest addition? Keyword targeting.
With keyword targeting, you can define the keywords your ad should be shown for, as well as keywords that you don’t want to appear for. That way, you’ll attract customers who are actively looking for the services you offer (and not those who want something you don’t).
The new keyword targeting option joins location targeting capabilities to help you reach the right people in the right place, while additional settings give you control over how your ad looks. You can allow Yelp to test photos and reviews to see which get you the most clicks, or you can select the ad photo and review yourself—or unleash your inner copywriter and write your own ad text.
Pro tip: Consider using Ad Settings to expand into new service areas or reach new audiences. When using settings to restrict your audience, note that reducing the size of your target population could increase your cost per click (CPC).

Easier setup and new options for Call to Action
A Call to Action on your Yelp Page makes contacting your business as simple as clicking a button. A refreshed Call to Action setup process makes it easier for you to set it up—and to change it when you have a new offer.
There’s now a unified setup process for all visitor types: You no longer have to set up the Call to Action for mobile visitors and desktop visitors separately, and you can choose to send customers “to my website” or “to my phone” from both mobile and desktop.
New pre-written options
There are new suggested Call to Action descriptions and button text that are relevant for your general business category. If none of the pre-written options work, you can also still write your own unique description and/or button text.
You don’t have to use your imagination to envision what your Call to Action will look like: A new preview area shows how it will look as you build it. To try it out, log into your Yelp Business Account and click on the Call to Action tab.
Demographic insights from Yelp Connect
Yelp Connect is a great way for you to engage potential and existing customers over time. In just a few clicks, you can post social media-style updates with photos and captions. Yelp Connect promotes these posts to people on Yelp who are most likely to interact with your business, so you stay top-of-mind with a valuable and relevant audience.
Now, Connect has added demographic insights into your audience, helping you get a better understanding of who you’re reaching with your posts. As your audience grows, you can get insight into their location, age, and gender. Use these demographics to inform your posting strategy. If you’re a Connect customer and enough of your followers are sharing their demographic information, you’ll now see those audience demographics when you log into your Yelp Business account and click the Yelp Connect tab.
Yelp Connect now available for Android
It’s now easier for more businesses to share updates with the Yelp for Business Android app. Android users can now post to Yelp Connect from their mobile phones for faster and easier sharing on the go.
