CT Elites head to Sherkaan Indian Street Food

On Wednesday night, Yelp Elite members took part in an incredible tasting session at Sherkaan Indian Street Food, one of New Haven’s highly anticipated new additions. Tucked away on Broadway, Sherkaan entices guests with its eclectic décor, creative craft cocktails, and, naturally, some pretty memorable food. Elites were warmly welcomed with signature cocktails of their choosing, which were as stunningly presented as they were delicious.

Highlights from the menu were served family style, from appetizers to desserts. The tasting kicked off with keema tots (fried potato dumplings with spiced lamb filling – imagine the best tater tot you’ve ever had, then add lamb) and followed with dahi puri: puri shells filled with chickpeas, aloo onion, sev, sweet yogurt, and green and tamarind chutneys. Next up, a giant squash dosa brimming with spiced butternut squash, aloo, beetroot raita, and amul cheese was pulled apart and shared among guests. The entrees also included Sherkaan’s perfectly spiced butter chicken recipe served with naan and rice.

Ending things on a sweet note, guests were able to sample the restaurant’s take on gulab jamun with grapefuit, rose syrup, and crushed hazelnuts, as well as their fudgey pistachio bars with lemon cream and cardamom.

We can’t wait to come back soon and try more of Sherkaan’s incredibly unique menu. Be sure to check out the rave reviews here and photos by Nick Caito Photo on the link here. Thank you to the team at Sherkaan for a wonderful evening!
