Connecticut Yelpers Celebrate Women’s History Month

Throughout March, we celebrated Women’s History Month in Connecticut by recognizing some of the state’s amazing female entrepreneurs. A huge thanks to the badass boss lady business owners we collaborated with during our monthlong event series!

We kicked off the month with a juice and smoothie tasting at Liquid Nirvana, hosted by owner Rosy Kapur. Guests learned about Kapur’s commitment to using natural, wholesome ingredients in every juice, smoothie and bowl on the store’s expansive menu. Next, a roomful of yelpers worked up a sweat during a spirited cycling session at Empowered Studio. Owner Jocelyn DeMaio has created an encouraging, energetic and completely empowering community that brings high intensity cycling to the next level. With this combination of motivation and quality fitness, it’s no wonder they were awarded Best Fitness Studio by CT Magazine!

The following week, yelpers breathed deeply and enjoyed a tranquil experience at Vasu Studio. Led by co-owner Natalie Wheeler, a gentle yoga class transformed a busy Saturday afternoon into a beautifully restorative session in their sunny Hartford studio. The class also incorporated aromatherapy created by co-owner Holly Wheeler in the studio’s apothecary.

Our event series concluded with an art appreciation session at Melanie Carr Gallery. Guests sipped bubbly and perused the new art exhibition while taking part in an observational drawing exercise hosted by Melanie Carr. Fellow women owned businesses Truffle Shots and Earth & Fire Art Studio were also on site – Truffle Shots with their decadent ganache creations, and Earth & Fire with some incredible ceramic pieces on display.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Women’s History Month event series – we’re excited to keep celebrating women owned businesses all year long!
