Yelp Denver’s Winter Ball 2019

Blog event recap compiled by Chloe L, Yelp Community Intern

In the heart of Lodo, NATIV Hotel opened its doors to Denver’s Yelp community and buzzing businesses. Over 300 guests dusted off their finest formal wear to take part in Yelp Colorado’s Winter Ball, kicking off February in style! Local Yelpers had the opportunity to bring a plus one to show off just how fancy Denver can get while giving back to an inspiring charity, The Women’s Bean Project.

Upon entry, guests were treated by over fifteen of Denver’s local businesses showing their stuff! Ladies in elegant gowns were given breath-taking up-do’s and curls thanks to DryBar. 5280 Burger Bar fueled guests with the most mouth-watering pulled pork nachos we have ever seen! Did someone say shrimp lollipops? We can thank Aloy Modern Thai for the savory surprise.

What’s a ball without a string ensemble? The string chamber serenaded the halls of NATIV as guests sipped on cocktails with class to complete the mood. For those looking to kick things up a notch, the DJ booth brought the energy and Yelpers to the dancefloor! Who doesn’t love getting down to the beat in a tux? To capture the highs of the night, Ryan Secora, local caricature artist portrayed guests in a humorous light along with our photographer and selfie booth.

Our night doesn’t end there. We drooled at the sight of Habit Doughnut Dispensary’s doughnut wall and savored the nutella stuffed waffles from Wafflerita. You can’t complete dessert without indulging in Petit Pot’s creamy custard and cupcakes from Milk N Cake! RXBar supplied the protein and sent Yelpers home with breakfast bars and butters. To wash it all down, adult bevvies were served up by NATIV’s finest bartenders. We can’t forget the refreshments from Kevita Kombucha, Teakoe and High Brew Coffee. There was something for everyone!

Aside from great bites and drinks, this event raised over $1,800 and awareness for Women’s Bean Project. This organization assists chronically unemployed women in the Denver area. With employment training courses and one-on-one mentorships, women are given the opportunity to have a steady paycheck and transportation to work. The money donated will provide 9 women with the computer training necessary to secure entry-level employment in the hi-tech Denver economy.
