For over a decade, Myoptic Optometry + Modern Eyewear has helped their patients to both see well and look good. Now they want to change the way Portland thinks about dry, red eyes. With their new Sellwood location featuring the city’s most advanced technology for treating Dry Eye Syndrome, the Myoptic team knew the Yelp Elite Squad would enjoy a behind-the-scenes peek. From the looks of it, everybody had a great time!
As the guests first arrived, they were warmly greeted by the Myoptic staff. Optometrists, opticians, and buyers were all eager to share their passion for both eye care and serving the local community. But first things first, it was time to get a drink and a bite to eat! Myoptic had invited neighboring businesses to join in on the fun. The Portland Bottle Shop poured guests a variety of delicious local wines and beers while Reverend’s served bbq favorites like smoked chicken wings, sliced sausages, and hushpuppies. They even had deviled eggs topped with brisket burnt ends! But the stars of the show were the custom creations by Sarah’s Cookies, including some in the shape of both Myoptic’s and Yelp’s logos!
Even as they juggled cookies, wings, and beers, the guests couldn’t resist the temptation to browse Myoptic’s collection of fashion eyewear. As the exclusive Portland retailer to many of the brands on display, the Yelp Elites could see that from classic to contemporary, Myoptic carried the selection befitting of a stylish Portland boutique. In the corner of the store, a custom photo booth allowed the guests to imagine themselves in a countless number of looks, and share them with their friends via social media!
Of course, the Myoptic team also wanted to talk eye health and optical care. Dr Summy To (who founded Myoptic in 2006) eagerly shared with the Elites some common misconceptions about dry eyes, and how it’s a condition that is often mistaken for allergies. She and her team educated the group on how some simple lifestyle changes could help to curb the unwanted effects of modern life. And then each guest had the opportunity to test-drive the cutting-edge machinery that could map the surface of their eyeballs and even measure their moisture!
The evening was soon coming to a close, but Myoptic wasn’t about to let the Yelpers leave empty handed. Each guest received an eye-catching t-shirts, in one of Myoptic’s four pop culture-inspired designs. The Yelp Elites all received gift cards good for future eye care appointments or to put towards frames. And one lucky Yelper walked away with the evening’s grand prize: a complimentary eye exam and their choice of any pair of glasses in the shop! No matter what they walked away with, the guests all agreed: for quality eye care in Portland, Myoptic is the place to beat!
