The evening before Valentine’s Day, Cleveland Yelp Elites gathered for a good old-fashioned adult pizza party at Donatos Pizza in Shaker Heights. Founded in Ohio in 1963, this family-owned business has more than 150 locations in nine states. Donatos is known for their Edge to Edge® promise (no wimpy toppings here!), award-winning dough and all around quality. Elites were invited to spend a fun and tasty evening with their best pals sampling the best Donatos has to offer.
Yelp’s Pizza Palentine’s Day brought out the kid in everyone. The tables were set with pizza party hats, Yelp swag bags and menus full of yumminess to come. Yelpers were able to hang out with old Elite pals and make a few new ones too! However, this wasn’t your average pizza party: Yelpers feasted on a four-course meal. Starting with shareables, Elites nibbled on Donatos wings (chipotle dry rub and traditional BBQ), family recipe meatballs and asiago cheese bread. Guests also had a choice of salad: Caprese, Italian Harvest or Italian.
The real showstopper? Elites feasted on six different pizzas on three different crusts: hand-tossed, thin, and gluten-free. Donatos sees the dough as the foundation for everything they do, and they’ve been using the same recipe for 50 years! The star pizza of the evening was the brand new Spicy Pepperoni, a newer menu release. The meal finished off with delicious fudge brownies and chocolate chunk cookies. No Yelper left hungry that night. Everyone was impressed with the quality of the food, the peak into Donatos history (we love our Ohio-based businesses!) and the sleek location. It was a Palentine’s Day success! After all, there’s no better way to celebrate friends than huge amounts of pizza and party hats. As Elite Adam R. remarked, “We had a great time at Donato’s tonight. Wearing fun pizza party hats… mingling with other Yelpers and eating a weeks-worth of food was a great way to spend Palentine’s Day.”
