Today we’re excited to announce the launch of our new Yelp Fusion developer program, including better tools for developers to build with the new Yelp Fusion API which provides access to the industry leading Yelp content and data, a revamped developer portal, and cool new partner integration examples to inspire developers.
From left to right: INRIX OpenCar uses new Yelp Fusion API content like price range to power their in-dash system, Blippar brings Yelp content into augmented reality, and Coffee Meets Bagel’s new Date Spot mobile site finds great first date locations based on ambiance, price and noise level.
Using the Yelp Fusion API, SoftBank’s Pepper robot will serve as the ultimate concierge.
Consumer expectations for local content have been increasing, and to answer that need, we’ve decided to double down on our developer program and provide access to better tools and richer Yelp content and data.
The new Yelp Fusion API gives developers greater access to Yelp’s wealth of high quality, local content across our 32 international markets and enables new functionality, specifically:
Search filters for price level and open hours
Access to 3 original resolution photos and 3 review excerpts
Surfacing transact-able businesses in the food delivery category, from Yelp Eat24 and Yelp Platform partners such as delivery.com, ChowNow, EatStreet and foodjunky
Autocomplete suggestions for keyword, business name and business category search
Upgraded to OAuth 2.0 to allow for simpler API access
Ability to cache content for up to 24 hours
For developers, Yelp is the best source of hyper-local content out there. We work really hard to keep our data accurate. We have the most vibrant and passionate community that provides Yelp with up-to-date, quality content. We’ve done the work to curate the best content possible across 32 countries so our partners can deliver the ultimate localized experience to their users.
We hope that the future brings even more innovation, so we’re doing all we can to make that happen. We’ve launched a new partnership with General Assembly to create coursework using the Yelp Fusion API to teach students how to build integrations.
We’re also exploring new ways to reach developers, like partnering with companies on syndicating the Yelp Fusion API through their own developer programs. A great example is SoundHound Inc., which uses Yelp’s API through Houndify, their developer platform for integrating a voice-enabled, conversational interface into any product or service.
