In June 2014, we welcomed 21 interns from 16 Universities to be a part of our 2nd Annual Summer Sales Internship. This year, our NYC, San Francisco and Phoenix offices participated. Each office matched interns with top Account Executives, who showed them the ropes through an 8 week intensive sales experience.
The Sales Internship is modeled after our full time Account Executive role. Noor E., an intern from UC Davis said, “I really like how this is a snapshot of what it would be like to work at Yelp.” Each intern went through formal sales training to learn about the company mission and business model, as well as our advertising product and how it could benefit small business owners all over the country.
Phoenix Interns and Top Account Executives on First Day
In addition to learning the Yelp sales cycle and working on deals with top Account Executives, the Interns had access to Sales Directors, our Vice President of Sales and even sat down with Jed Nachman, our Senior Vice President of Revenue for a Q&A. Zander N., from Kenyon College, said “With Yelp, I feel like it could lead to something, and what I'm doing every day has meaning."
A summer at Yelp wouldn’t be complete without all of the perks of being an employee, which includes: fully stocked kitchens, access to game rooms including ping pong tables and several office outings with the team. At the end of summer, interns were treated to an offsite with the top Account Executives they’d worked with.

Many of our interns were offered full time Sales roles after concluding their Internship and will be joining our team after they graduate. “I'd like to come back as an Account Executive. I'd like to come back now – I wish I was graduating – but I have to wait a few more months!" Juliana K.
